I was very surprised and delighted to see a kitcar on the top gear show. They’ve featured Caterhams in the past like the R500 but they had a different type of car kitcar on briefly before revealing Geoff their electric car creation. Screen shot below see if you can guess what it is. All suggestions in the comments below :)

GTM is a british sports car manufacturer launched in 1967 and have a great reputation in the industry. I personally think the GTM Libra is one of the best kit cars you can get and can certainly be used as an every day car. Owners of the GTM libra and spider report getting 40+MPG from there cars. Even the entry 1.4 k series engine is really fast, however most people opt for the 1.8 litre k-series engine that is also used in some of the Lotus Elises and of course MG.

Speaking of Lotus, when Lotus were developing the Elise they visited the GTM factory and there are many similar aspects to each car. from design and looks to chasis and engine choice, it quite remarkable really.

The lastest news from the GTM camp is that in 2007 they joined Potenza sports cars who also own Westfield sports cars. GTM will soon be launching 2 new cars being the 40TR and Ballista.
